Great book

Today it may look like Christmas here in Newfoundland but it unfortunately is not. But to get you in the mood of reading cosy books I have a new review! I received a new freebie given to me from Digitally Lit and NimbisPublishing entitled The Finest Tree and other Christmas Stories from Atlantic Canada edited by Dan Soucoup. This book is a non-fiction book about Christmas throughout the Atlantic provinces.

This book made me understand the real reason of Christmas and makes readers consider the real reason Christmas comes ( to give and not receive and that family means everything).

This book is set in the Atlantic Canadian provinces such as New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island and of course Nova Scotia, with most of the stories set in Nova Scotia and Surrounding areas. It is also important to note that the editor, Dan Soucoup, is originally from Nova Scotia and currently lives in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The setting really intrigued me because depending on the short story the setting was different.

One of my favourite short stories in this book is Aunt Cyrilla’s Christmas Basket by L.M. Montgomery which is about the spirit of Christmas. In this book, a group of people are stuck on a train because of a snow storm but they still have the best Christmas ever. There is lots of food, singing and laughter as the snowstorm ends. Another one of my favourite stories is Waiting For Santa by Mark Tunney, which is about believing in Santa. I liked both of these books it shows that the Christmas spirit is all you need to have a great Christmas.

In conclusion, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and all the individual short stories and how they all come together with the theme that Christmas is all you ever need to be happy. Christmas spirit and family or chosen family is all you need to celebrate the wonderful holiday!
I rate this book 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟/5 stars

I recommend this book.
