Foreign Affairs
"Foreign Affairs" by Nick Wilkshire is a gripping thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish! With its fast-paced narrative and expertly crafted suspense, this novel pulls readers into a globe of mystery, deception, and high-stakes courtroom spectacle.
The story follows Peter Verdun, a criminal defense lawyer who becomes entangled in a harrowing murder case. His old friend is accused of a brutal crime, and as the trial unfolds, Verdun senses that something is deeply wrong. Clues don’t add up, obstacles arise at every turn, and it seems as if someone is determined to keep the truth buried. Is Verdun’s gut feeling correct, or is he fighting a losing battle?
Nick Wilkshire masterfully weaves a tale of justice and uncertainty, reminding readers that everyone is innocent until proven guilty. His strong, precisely complex vocabulary brings each scene to life, immersing us in the tension of the courtroom and the thrill of the investigation.
If you love legal thrillers filled with twists and unexpected revelations, "Foreign Affairs" is a must-read!

A Sincere Read
In this autobiography, Jen recounts her life since being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. The book depicts her powerful story, answering questions people may be hesitant to ask about living with a progressive condition. This book includes the raw and intimate aspects of Jen’s life. Readers witness Jen’s journey of navigating the ever-changing landscape of her new reality.
The book tackles many issues such as death, eating disorders, and heartbreak. I admire Jen for having the strength to share her story, including dark feelings one would not expect her to share with others. Each chapter was authentically written, and, although the content of each moved to different aspects of her life pretty quickly, I actually really liked that since the chapters were so short. I was also really glad to read the heartfelt words from those she’s closest to as well as find that photographs are included throughout the book. The pictures of Jen’s various experiences added a nice, personal touch to the memoir. Jen’s unwavering strength shined through in the book, as she wrote about her desire not to be merely defined by her disability.
I appreciated how deeply the author discussed her thoughts and yearnings, even though I found many of her decisions questionable and disagreed with them. On the other hand, something I found surprising and special is that Jen wrote about her experience co-forming Friends for Refugees and sponsoring a Palestinian refugee family, in 2009, raising tens of thousands of dollars for them. It was very unexpected for me to see Palestine mentioned, seemingly randomly, in a book that didn’t directly relate to the topic—and I loved that.
Although I’m personally not disabled, Multiple Sclerosis plays a role in my life in a different way, and I’m glad I read this book and got to learn from a different perspective. This memoir is great for those looking for a raw and heart-touching read.
I recommend this book.

Amazing book
I have the perfect book for National literacy week! If you are interested in reading my review see below!
Hope Of The Wasteland is a sci-fi adventure novel for middle grade readers. This book was written by Matt Watts and published by Donovan Street Press.
This book follows our main character Huey as he goes against his days wishes, ( which is to stay in the bunker) where he is safe from the wasteland, but when his father doesn’t come back Huey must save his remaining family. Huey goes through his own adventures and finds a feisty girl to become his companion.
I absolutely loved this book and fell in love with Huey because of his courageous attitude and how he did not let his anxiety win. I liked how this book made Huey change. His character changed from being a small, timid and anxious character to a strong character in the end.
I liked how this book brought in nature and how the reader can try to make life better in the world.
Overall, I absolutely loved this book and really hope there will be more books to come in this series. I thought that it was really well put together and how I loved Huey from the first page. I think I will miss the characters immensely!
I rate this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars
I recommend this book.

Imagining Anne
This book not only contains rich literature, but also is a work of art. I really enjoyed going through the pages, and stopping at beautiful sketches, whether it was dresses, flowers, or animals! When I was seven, I visited Prince Edward Island for the very first time with my family. It was a long road trip, and I vaguely remember my parents mentioning to me that this province is well known for a children’s book series called Anne of Green Gables. At first, I was not interested. Why would I rather read books that were way too hard for me to comprehend when I could be playing with toys or going on my bike outside?
My thinking quickly changed when we arrived. It was in the summer, and the weather was nice and warm, with the sun shining on my back. I fell in love with the province, despite that it was quite small, it was rewarding. I loved spending mornings at the beach where I could see red sand along with the heavy, gorgeous, ocean waves, splashing the ocean floor. Collecting seashells and other sorts of nature was super fun as well, and kept me entertained. Something that made my trip amazing was trying some of their specialties: their gigantic lobsters, mussels, clams, and delicious, sweet, blueberry pie, made of real blueberries!
But what I remember the most from the trip was visiting Anne’s home, Green Gables. Yes, I was able to go inside and take a look! It was as if I was transported right into her world! I enjoyed watching a short documentary of how Anne of Green Gables was created, and got to shop some items from her world! It was a difficult choice on what to get, but I ended up choosing an Anne Shirley doll! The original series had way more complicated words, so I didn’t read those until around the age of 10, but my parents did buy an easier illustrated book for me to read, in english and in french!
Throughout that trip, it inspired me to read about this character, Anne. What I really liked was being able to learn more about Prince Edward Island, as most of the places in the books are actually in real life! “Imagining Anne” gave me many answers, such as what some of these characters wore, how similar these characters are to L.M Montgomery, and why she decided to write this book.
If you are someone who loves art, Anne of Green Gables, or simply someone who is looking for something interesting to read, this book has got your back! Perhaps it will give you some inspiration ideas for your next project, because it sure did for me! Thank you for reading this book review, and I hope that through my experience you are able to learn something new!
