Great book

Book review-Secrets Of Sable Island by Marcia Pierce Harding
Happy Holidays everyone! Today I have another book review to share with you. My latest book Secrets Of Sable Islands by Marcia Pierce Harding was given to me for free for being a youth ambassador with Digitally Lit. A huge thank you to Nimbus Publishing for supplying the book!

The book follows our main character Caleb as he falls into the Atlantic Ocean after a boating accident, leaving him stranded on Sable Island for a while. When he befriends a little ghost girl, Marin, everything changes. The genre of this book is adventure.

Sable Island is a small, isolated sandbar located about 150 off the coast of Nova Scotia. It seems like a quaint little spot that would be great to live on. It is known for its shipwrecks and horses which I absolutely love! Horses are my favourite animal so this was a great addition to the book. I also loved all of the little pictures that were in the book!

In conclusion, I fell in love with this book and did not want it to end, I thought that the setting was vivid and exciting and the characters intrigued me! My favourite part was when Caleb and Marin meet for the first time!
I rate this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 stars

(P.S. this is a picture of my horse Stetson!)

I recommend this book.

Secrets of Sable Island Book Review

Secrets of Sable Island is one of the books I was looking forward to reading in 2023, and it really did not disappoint. The book starts off with 14 year old Caleb who’s working on a schooner. He falls over board during a storm and washes up on Sable Island, an island full of wild horses and ships that have met their end in it’s sands. Caleb washes up on shore, and is saved by a man who is secretly living on the island.

I thought this was a really fun book to read, it had that historical fiction element to it, and it also had this charm that I really fell in love with. Caleb was a pretty solid character, I liked him, and Norse, the man who saved him was really nice too. Caleb’s main objective is to get off the island and back home, I think he lived somewhere in Europe originally, but soon enough he finds that his home for a bit is Secrets of Sable Island. There are a handful of other characters too, Marin, Charlotte, Rodney, and Bryce. It’s a pretty small island, so it’s a little bit hard to believe that there’s a man living on the island in one of the very few homes there completely undetected, but it works I guess. Marin was such a fun character to read about, I really liked her, and her and Caleb make a great pair of friends to read about. This book is a really relaxing read, I didn’t find many action scenes, but it’s still really exciting and has you thinking about what’s going to happen next. Also, there was a plot twist and it was pretty… erm… plot… twisty? I really didn’t expect that from this book. It’s actually a pretty calm book where everyone rides horses on the beach. *thinks back to the beginning where Caleb is overboard and almost drowning in the storm* On second, thought, maybe it’s *not* such a calm book after all XD

I think that it’s very safe to say that I liked this book, and I will be trying out a video game that was made for it as well! We’ll have to see how well I do with that one… I don’t play many video games. I would definitely recommend Secrets of Sable Island for any horse lovers, adventure lovers, or just people who want a nice light read for the day!

I recommend this book.

Secrets of Sable Island

ts genre is historical fiction and the theme of the book is survival and courage. I believe the message of this book is to educate and to entertain people at the same time.

My opinion of this book is that it is a very good book. I believe that it is a good book because it is detailed, exciting, fun, and it has a great story line. I also love the author's style of writing the book.

For people who have not yet read the book, it is about a 14 year old boy named Caleb and a girl named Marin. Caleb's story is that he was tossed into the frigid, cold Atlantic Ocean from his ship after a ferocious storm. Caleb ends up on Sable Island and is rescued by Norse, a man who is secretly living on Sable Island.

Soon Caleb quickly bonds with the island and befriends a ghost girl and must do whatever he can to save her, and himself.

Marin’s story is that she has to take care of her sick mother and bad-tempered father on the other side of Sable Island. Both Caleb and Marin soon develop independence and a sense of self.

My favourite part of the book is just Caleb's entire adventure through Sable Island and his character development.

I really enjoyed this book and would recommend this book to people who like adventure, historical fiction, books that are based around Atlantic Canada or are interested in learning about local authors. I personally give this book 4 Stars.
