“Get off of there, Craig!” shouted Shawn.

“I can’t! I’m slipping!” wailed Craig.

Shawn leaped back onto the ice. He took a breath and jumped over the widening crack, grabbing his little brother by the coat as he flew through the air. Both boys fell heavily to the ice on the other side.

The boys stared in horror as the crack widened to reveal an eddy of churning, foaming brown water.
Tony, Craig, and Shawn are trapped on an ice floe on the Petitcodiac River in the dead of winter, and the rapid current is pulling them toward the ocean. Twelve-year-old Petra arrives and the boys think they’re saved, but their dangerous journey is only just beginning.

What an absolute joy it was to be able to read this book again! It brought me right back to my childhood, sitting in my desk listening to Ms. Kitchen read the adventures of Craig, Shawn, Tony and Petra to us!

This book takes place on the Peticodiac River (aka the Chocolate River 😉), which divides Moncton and Riverview. When brothers Craig and Shawn, and their friend Tony are kicked out of the house to enjoy the winter weather, they find themselves in a sticky situation...

Suddenly they’re trapped on an ice floe on the rushing River, slowly drifting farther and farther from the banks. Just when they think they’re doomed, Petra (the niece of a rescuer) shows up and saves the day! Or so they think...

This book is full of so many twists and turns that you just can’t put it down! Every time something goes right, something else goes wrong. Every page leaves you wondering what might happen on the next.

The Chocolate River Rescue is an amazing read for all ages!! Adventure, friendship, leadership and kindness, this book truly has it all!

Quelle joie de pouvoir relire ce livre! Ça m’a ramené à mon enfance, assis dans mon bureau à écouter Mme Kitchen nous lire les aventures de Craig, Shawn, Tony et Petra!

Ce livre se déroule sur la rivière Peticodiac (aussi appelée rivière Chocolate ), qui divise Moncton et Riverview. Quand les frères Craig et Shawn, et leur ami Tony sont expulsés de la maison pour profiter du temps hivernal, ils se retrouvent dans une situation délicate...

Soudain, ils sont pris au piège sur un floe de glace sur la rivière, dérivant lentement de plus en plus loin des berges. Juste au moment où ils pensent qu’ils sont condamnés, Petra (la nièce d’un sauveteur) arrive et sauve la journée ! Ou alors ils pensent...

Ce livre est rempli de tant de rebondissements et de tours que vous ne pouvez pas le mettre vers le bas! Chaque fois que quelque chose va bien, quelque chose d’autre va mal. Chaque page vous laisse vous demander ce qui pourrait arriver sur la prochaine.

Le sauvetage de la rivière Chocolate est une lecture incroyable pour tous les âges! Aventure, amitié, leadership et gentillesse, ce livre a vraiment tout !
